You are Gold! Edinburgh Airport celebrates its people at annual awards

Edinburgh Airport held its annual awards dinner last week (Wednesday 25 March) honoring the fantastic achievements made by its people over the last year and their commitment to the success of Scotland’s busiest airport.

The Celebrating Success Awards Dinner is held in March every year and looks back at the previous 12 months. A total of 18 awards were handed out throughout the evening to individuals from across the business who have excelled to deliver amazing results in areas such as customer service, technical and operational expertise, innovation, volunteering and charity work.

Dickie Upson, Crew Commander at the Airport Fire Service and leader of the Edinburgh Airport Young Firefighters, picked up the Gold iVolunteer award for his charity work.

Launched in 2001, the Edinburgh Airport’s Young Firefighters is the only organisation of its kind in the country. Cadets are given the opportunity to participate in a fire and rescue service programme, offering a variety of skills in areas like problem solving, communication and teamwork, as well as advice on handling money, job application techniques and community projects.

With Dickie’s help, cadets gain confidence and valuable experience to interact with their community and teach people the importance of fire safety.

Anna Light was awarded the Gold Dedication award for her work as the airport’s Head of Engagement.

Over the last year Anna has worked tirelessly to improve internal communications and external stakeholder relations, delivering phenomenal results and inspiring her colleagues to continue striving for greatness. Incredibly passionate about her role, Anna works closely with teams all across the airport helping to create understanding of the airport brand, strategy and vision for the future.

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive, said: "Our awards ceremony is about recognising those in our airport that we believe have performed over and above their day jobs. And it’s important to say ‘we’ because nominees were nominated by their peers.

"Celebrating Success is about recognising loyalty and hard work in other ways as we presented much-deserved long service awards to those that have dedicated large parts of their careers to serving Edinburgh Airport.

"A huge congratulations to all our nominees and winners."
