New Year brings 200 + new retail jobs to Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport has today (Monday) welcomed the New Year by announcing that its continuing growth will deliver over 200 new retail jobs at the airport in the first half of 2016.
The redevelopment of the airside retail space at Edinburgh Airport will see increased choice for passengers with a range of new outlets including; All Bar One, Brora, Next, Max Mara and Michael Kors and Fatface to add to the existing new retailers Superdrug, JD Sports and Flutes and Tails Champagne bar - who opened in the final weeks of 2015.
This follows on from - and is on top of - the official opening of the new World Duty Free store at Edinburgh Airport in November which saw the creation of 44 new jobs.
Commenting on the creation of new retail jobs – and on the growth of Edinburgh Airport - Chief Executive Gordon Dewar, said:
“2015 was an incredible year for Edinburgh Airport; the growth in our passenger numbers is thanks to the increased choice of destinations and our commitment to improving the overall passenger experience.
“The expansion of the retail side of the business is a key element of our success. The fact is that Edinburgh Airport’s growth in the non-aero market allows us to be competitive and attract more airlines and more routes in and out of Scotland’s capital.
“Passengers have been taking full advantage of our excellent retail options like never before. And indeed all Edinburgh Airport passengers are benefitting with enhanced choice of destinations, including the 26 new routes between this winter and next summer.
“This strategy has not only seen passenger number grow to record levels, it benefits airlines too. It is good for us, good for our customers and ultimately - with the creation of more jobs and enhanced connectivity from the nation’s capital city – it is good for Scotland.”
