49 % passengers growth recorded at Košice Airport in the first six months of 2014

In the first half of 2014 Košice Airport welcomed 124 049 passengers representing an annual increase of 49%, i.e. plus 40 616 passengers as compared to the first half of 2013.
103 495 passengers used scheduled services between Košice and Bratislava, London, Prague and Vienna what represents annual growth of 56%. In addition, there was significant increase of 23% recorded in the charter segment with 19 406 charter passengers entering the gates of Košice Airport.
Aircraft movements for the same period of time reached the level of 3 334 what is 8% more than in first half of the previous year.
Chief executive officer and chairman of the management board of Košice Airport, Karl Dandler said:„Operational results for the first half of 2014 are in line with the positive trend from the beginning of the year. We are glad that in addition to successful regular operations to Bratislava, London, Prague and Vienna also start of our summer charter season was warmly welcomed by the passengers from Eastern Slovakia. Second half of summer is ahead of us with 17 seaside destinations with departure from Košice on sale of tour operators.”
The busiest day so far this year was 29th July when the airport welcomed 3 987 passengers in total. The head of marketing Juraj Toth summed up the airport operations on this day: “We handled six regular departures to London, Prague and Vienna and nine charter flights to destinations Antalya, Burgas, Enfidha, Monastir and Corfu. Regular services were used by 901 passengers and 3 086 outbound tourists travelled to/from charter destinations.”
