Lodz Airport: Lodz Economic Zone the best in Europe and third in the world.
The annual awards for Global Free Zones were announced at 15 October 2020.
The Łódź Special Economic Zone is the best in Europe – declared a magazine from the Financial Times groups. The ranking of economic zones called Global Free Zones of the Year has been conducted since 2014. The list was prepared by experts from the British magazine dealing with foreign investments.
The annual ranking was published by the fDi Magazine associated with the Financial Times. The Łódź Special Economic Zone took 3rd place in the world, experts ranked higher only two zones, one from Morocco and the other from the United Arab Emirates.
In the list of special economic zones, the Łódź SEZ was recognized as the best in Europe and the third in the world - it was overtaken by DMCC from the United Arab Emirates and Tangier Med Zones from Morocco. The authors of the ranking appreciated the Łódź Special Economic Zone for the progress in the implementation of industry 4.0 technology and 2019 investments worth EUR 530 million.
The authors of the list additionally praised this central Polish zone for production, research, and expanding the offer for technological startups as well as small and medium-sized companies, e.g. the use of industrial 5G networks.
The Łódź SEZ was also considered the best place for SMEs. fDi Magazine drew attention here to the Startup Spark 2.0 acceleration program and work on technologies for smart factories. The Łódź Special Economic Zone has been appreciated in the following categories: connectivity, automotive of the future and industry 4.0.
