Photovoltaics will power the Lodz Airport!
Lodz Airport will be completely independent!
Lodz Airport is embracing green energy. Plans are underway to build a photovoltaic farm that will make the airport independent from external electricity supplies. It's not just about savings but also a step towards ecology.
In the heart of Poland, a new era of energy is beginning. The Łodz Airport, known for its innovative approach to technology, has announced plans to create its own photovoltaic farm. It's an ambitious project aimed at becoming independent from external energy supplies. A sunny investment with a capacity of 10 MW. The designed photovoltaic farm, covering an area of up to 13 hectares, will not only be a symbol of modernity but primarily a source of clean energy. With an estimated installation capacity of 10 MW, the airport will be able to meet its total electricity demand. The project's implementation has been divided into 2 or 3 stages. Already after the completion of the first stage, the photovoltaic farm is expected to supply about 20% of the required energy, which is a milestone towards self-sufficiency. The photovoltaic farm will be built on the side of the Łódź bypass, on the southern side of the runway. Construction is set to begin in 2024.
Furthermore, the surplus energy produced will not go to waste. It is planned to be used to power nearby urban facilities.
A pioneering step among Polish airports!
The photovoltaic farm brings not only environmental benefits but also real savings. Lodz Airport consumes enormous amounts of electricity, and energy prices are constantly rising. Having its own photovoltaic installation will allow for a reduction in the airport's maintenance costs.
