Airport launches summer season on 28 March 2010

flights to 53 destinations from Leipzig/Halle

New holiday destination: North Cyprus

The 2010 summer timetable, valid from 28 March 2010 to 30 October 2010, will feature up to 256 weekly connections to 53 airports in 17 countries. These flights will be operated by 26 airlines.

The number of connections to the international hub airports of Paris, Vienna, Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf, and to the airports of Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart remained unchanged. Passengers from the region can reach destinations throughout the world via these airports."

New destination: North Cyprus
Starting 3 June 2010, the Turkish Tailwind Airlines will be operating Pullman Tours charter flights to Ercan Airport, North Cyprus, on Thursdays, with a stopover in Antalya,
North Cyprus as a holiday destination, offers, far away from mass tourism, a large variety of hotels and guesthouses of all categories and thus endless opportunities for tailor-made individual holidays.
In addition to ancient sites, visitors will find untrodden beaches as well as numerous activities for the active vacationer.
With the launch of the new connection, three destinations in Cyprus, Ercan, Paphos and Larnaca, can now be reached directly from Leipzig/Halle Airport,

Tour operators expand flight offering to the most popular holiday destinations
Six* new airlines will be taking off from Leipzig/Halle this summer season to serve popular holiday destinations such as Turkey, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Egypt. Flights will include TUI and ÖGER Tours charter flights to Antalya, the most popular holiday destination to be served from Leipzig/Halle.
Germania, on behalf of TUI, will be offering additional weekly flights to Palma de Mallorca.
In addition to Air Berlin and Condor, Hamburg International, on behalf of Thomas Cook, will be operating flights to Palma de Mallorca and Crete.
LMX Touristik will offer additional charter flights to Hurghada in the summer holiday season.

Fly Air Berlin to Palma de Mallorca and 18 other destinations in Spain and Portugal twice a day
Air Berlin will run two daily flights to Palma de Mallorca during the summer season. Eighteen destinations in Spain and Portugal including Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Seville, Porto, Bilbao, Valencia, Malaga, Ibiza, Faro, Alicante and Almeria are being served via this hub.
Baggage at Leipzig/Halle Airport can be checked directly through to passenger's final destination.

Sunshine destinations served from Leipzig/Halle
Air Berlin will be serving 18 destinations this summer. Condor, which offers services in Central Germany from Leipzig/Halle Airport only, will be flying to eleven destinations. Hamburg International runs flights to five destinations, followed by Germania and XL Airways Germany, serving three holiday destinations each.
Front-runner in weekly service is also Air Berlin with 38 flights. Condor takes off on 21 weekly flights, while Air Via offers seven flights a week. Sky Airlines takes off on 6 weekly flights. Air Malta, Germania and Sun Express Flüge offer four flights a week each.
Number one destination from Leipzig/Halle is Antalya, which is being served 25 times a week, followed by Palma de Mallorca with 22 weekly flights. Burgas holds third place with eight flights. Tourist aircraft take off on flights to Heraklion and Hurghada six times a week each.

City connections from Leipzig/Halle
The summer timetable features 143 weekly non-stop connections to seven destinations in Germany, Austria and France, being served by four airlines.

Lufthansa increases frequency to Dusseldorf
Germany's two major hubs, Frankfurt and Munich, are being served 33 times a week. Lufthansa will increase the frequency of its flights to Dusseldorf from 22 to 23 a week.
The airline provides access to some 200 international destinations via these hubs.

Fly Germanwings to Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart and up to 23 European destinations
Germanwings runs 12 weekly flights from Leipzig/Halle to Cologne/Bonn and eleven weekly flights to Stuttgart.
As part of its Smart Connect service, Germanwings offers additional connections to 23 other destinations via Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart. Passengers can book connecting flights to destinations such as Moscow, Bucharest, Nice, Istanbul, Dublin, Edinburgh, Split and Manchester.

Air France: daily flights to Paris and some 180 other destinations worldwide
Air France provides a daily non-stop service between Leipzig/Halle and Paris Charles de Gaulle. Offering up to 13 flights a week, Air France enables passengers to use the worldwide route network (some 180 destinations) that Air France-KLM serves via the Paris Charles de Gaulle hub.

Austrian Airlines offers daily flights to Vienna
Austrian Airlines is flying from Leipzig/Halle to its Vienna hub 18 times a week. Mondays through Sundays, the airline will be offering up to three flights a day. Passengers on these flights will take advantage of convenient transfer connections to Eastern Europe and Asia.

Traffic development January to February 2010
During the first two months of the year, passenger volume (274,273 passengers) reached last year's level. Tourist traffic has developed particularly favourable since the beginning of the year.
However, this increase in tourist traffic could not compensate the effects of flight cancelations due to severe winter weather and pilots strike. A total of about 90 flights in and out of Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Stuttgart and Paris were cancelled by the airlines.
During the January-to-February period, cargo volume rose to 94,884 tonnes, up 31.2% on the same period last year.
At the same time, the number of flight movements rose by 1.7 percent to 8,737.

Reduced car parking rates: value parking at the airport
Leipzig/Halle Airport takes off into the 2010 summer season with reduced car parking rates. As from 1 April 2010, users of the P2 and P4 car parks will pay a fee of just 30 euros for up to eight days of parking and 50 euros for up to 15 days of parking.
With the start of the summer peak season, 1 May to 31 October, passengers will benefit from great value parking directly at the airport.

From May to October: up to eight days of parking for 20 euros only
As from 1 May, users of the P20 seasonal car park will pay a fee of just 20 euros for up to eight days of parking and 35 euros for up to 15 days of parking.
Thus, passengers will benefit from our favourable one-week or two-week rates even if they leave early in the morning or return late at night.
A free shuttle bus will run between the P20 car park and the check-in/arrival area.

Some 30 travel agencies are available at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Holiday seekers will find a large variety of journeys, flights and associated service offers.
The travel agencies at the airport are also open on Sundays and public holidays. When booking a flight to or from Leipzig/Halle you will receive a 5-euro parking card to be used for parking at the airport on the day of booking.
