Leipzig/Halle Airport continue to grow in the first half of 2010

Leipzig/Halle Airport reported 1,079,475 passengers in the first six months of this year, which shows little change over the same period last year.In particular, with 249,770 passengers in June, volume grew by 2.6 percent due to the increased demand for domestic flights. At peak times during the summer season, the airport expects to handle up to 9,000 arrivals and departures a day.
Freight volume at Leipzig/Halle in the first half of 2010 also exceeded 300,000 tonnes for the first time. The airport handled a total of 304,760 tonnes of freight - an increase of 28.7 percent over the same period last year. With 29,573 takeoffs and landings, the airport also recorded a 3.8 percent rise in aircraft movements. The 5,794 takeoffs and landings in June alone are commensurate with strong growth of 13.7 percent.
