OMAN AIRPORTS ATTENDS WORLD ROUTES CHENGDU-CHINA 2016

Oman Airports attends the World route development forum held in Chengdu, China; led by the commercial operational team Kimmo Ruotsalainen, Head of Sales and Marketing and Dagmo Ahmed, Airline Marketing Manager. The Conference opened its doorways on the 24th of September 2016 and ended on Tuesday the 27th of September, converging on One to one meetings with long haul legacy carriers and Low cost carrier airlines, in addition to networking opportunities with various charter flight airlines, and tourism authorities. Oman Airports Once again has been Platinum Sponsors for the well know Strategy Summit at World Routes, where many Aviation senior representatives had important heated debates and talks in all three days of the route development forum.
The commercial operation team scheduled substantial meetings with targeted airline network managers to talk about possibilities in adding new frequencies or executing new routes to Oman Airports, including Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm airports. According to Kimmo Ruotsalainen, Head of Sales and Marketing, the meetings consisted of current customers as well as meetings with key target markets in the Middle East, the Gulf, and South Asia; as well as further connecting Africa and the Far East in the future.
Oman Airports focuses on enhancing the relationship with existing airlines and to develop relations with potential carriers for new opportunities. The long term goal is to connect Africa and Asia (specifically China) as well as Asia and Europe. The number of passengers at Muscat International Airport exceeded 10 million passengers and Salalah Airport broke its record to over 1, 0 million passengers to the newly opened state of the art airport, resulting an increase in both domestic and international travel.
Oman is looking forward to building direct routes with Asian carriers and partner with Oman Air to enhance the Muscat hub connectivity. Oman Airports aims to have a couple of new airlines to start operating to MCT during this year and more is planned to commence in 2017. Both Oman Airports and Oman Air have a close relationship and are working together to strengthen the transfer traffic via Muscat hub. World Routes in Chengdu opened doors to develop, initiate and develop new networking chances- making it accessible to reaching the target goal.
