OAMC Participates in Air Cargo Europe 2017 in Munich

Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) is set to take part in Air Cargo Europe 2017, the eighth edition of the air cargo and logistics conference and exhibition. It is the world`s leading trade fair for logistics mobility, IT and supplies chain management and it comes as part of the Transport Logistic event, which is held every other year between Europe and Shanghai.

Air Cargo Europe 2017, which is held in Munich between the 9th and the 12th of May, sees all-cargo operators, such as airlines, airports and full freight airline companies gather to exhibit themselves to the market. A variety of seminars, working panels and business gatherings will take place at the event.

The exhibition consists of a number of different sectors, such as forwarding agents, airlines, airports, express services, cargo handling companies, logistics providers charter brokers, general sales agents, organisations and trade associations, security services, air cargo industry services, logistics systems and products, DP systems for logistics, transport and airline management and equipment and control systems for airlines and airports.

With the opening of the new Muscat International Airport just around the corner, OAMC sees the exhibition as a fantastic opportunity to thrust the new airport`s cargo infrastructure, along with that of its counterpart in Salalah, into the spotlight.

Samer bin Ahmed Al Nabhani, Commercial Operations General Manager & Acting Muscat Int’t Airport General Manager at OAMC stated "it`s an important event for the industry itself and for us it`s going to be a maiden exhibition in light of the opening of the new facility. We are targeting our main clients and customers, who are the airlines and the cargo handler companies."

Al Nabhani added that this year`s exhibition is expected to have close to 220 exhibitors from various sides of the industry, before going on to explain that OAMC would be setting up its booth alongside that of Oman Air, so that Oman could be presented as a single system, as opposed to as a series of different companies. "Each one will co-market the activities of the other and will have sort of a common brand identity. While the layout of the booths is exactly the same, each one will maintain its own image," said Al Nabhani.

The Commercial Operations General Manager rounded off by saying "the ultimate purpose is to officially raise awareness of the capabilities in Oman in terms of logistics. We want to put all the stakeholders on the same kind of platform so that we can introduce Oman as a logistics system. The idea is to start combining the marketing efforts."

Furthermore, OAMC recently participated in the Routes Europe 2017 conference, which was held in the city of Belfast in Northern Ireland from the 25th to the 27th of April. Over 1200 specialists participated in the conference, along with 100 of Europe’s major airlines. The exhibition served as an effective platform to discuss new business opportunities with the region`s leading airlines, as well as with airports and tourism organisations. OAMC took the opportunity to hold face-to-face business meetings with some of the decision-makers within these institutions, so to discuss the possibility of strengthening the partnership and cooperation between them, as well as about reinforcing the Sultanate’s position as a standout tourism destination.
