October 4, 2021: Oakland International Airport (OAK) is pleased to announce that Delta Air Lines will begin new nonstop service between OAK and Detroit, MI (DTW) beginning April 20, 2022. Flights will operate once daily on the schedule shown below.

Eastbound – Daily: Depart OAK 11:50 PM - Arrive DTW 7:15 AM
Westbound – Daily: Depart DTW 8:50 PM – Arrive OAK 10:50 PM

“OAK welcomes this new nonstop flight to Detroit on Delta Air Lines. Delta will now serve three of its largest global hubs nonstop from the East Bay.” says Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Bryant L. Francis. “Now passengers will be able to fly nonstop to Detroit and, from there, have seamless access to Delta’s immense network including many popular destinations on the East Coast that are in high demand by East Bay travelers.”

Delta passengers departing from Oakland can connect to over 100+ destinations in 12 countries through Detroit. Delta has scheduled the flights on the 180-seat Boeing 737-900ER airliner. Delta Air Lines, along with its predecessor Western Airlines, is one of the original air carriers at OAK serving the airport since 1946. From OAK, the airline also serves their global hubs in Salt Lake City, Utah, and, most recently, Los Angeles, California.

“We’re looking forward to offering new service and greater connectivity through our Detroit hub for the East Bay’s growing communities,” said Scott Santoro, Delta’s Vice President – Sales. “We take pride in helping to reconnect people with loved ones and the places that matter most and we’re committed to providing a seamless travel experience every step of the way, including the world-class service that Delta is known for.”

Earlier this year, Delta was recognized as No. 1 in customer satisfaction among airlines in the J.D. Power 2021 North America Airline Satisfaction Study – a prestigious honor that underscores the professionalism, care and humanity of the Delta people.
