Busy Labor Day weekend expected at Oakland International Airport

Nearly 225,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport this holiday weekend, capping off a busy summer for OAK

Oakland, Calif. – September 1, 2022: Oakland International Airport is prepared for what is expected to be a busy Labor Day weekend as the summer travel season wraps up. OAK estimates that nearly 225,000 passengers will arrive at and depart from the airport between Thursday, September 1st, and Tuesday, September 6th. Friday and Monday will likely be the busiest days during this holiday travel period based on historical trends. OAK estimates that it will see up to 92% of pre-pandemic traffic levels. 

“This Labor Day caps off a record-breaking summer at OAK, with an estimated 4 million passengers having flown since May - by far the busiest summer since 2019,” says Bryant L. Francis, Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “We expect to be busier than usual this holiday weekend, so we encourage passengers to arrive early. Wishing everyone safe travels this Labor Day weekend and we’d like to thank everyone for choosing to Fly the East Bay Way this summer!”

OAK parking is offering a special $17.50 daily rate for passengers who park for four or more days in the Daily Lot.
