Oakland, Calif. – March 6, 2024: In January of 2024, Oakland International Airport (OAK) saw significantly higher levels of international passenger traffic with an increase of 42.1 percent compared to the same month last year. The airport saw 839,381 total passengers in January, an increase of approximately 2.4 percent from January 2023.

“International passenger traffic was strong at OAK in January, reflecting the increased levels of service from our international carriers. The winter seasonal service to San Salvador provided by new carrier Avianca Airlines represented a significant contribution to that total, along with strong service frequencies from long term partner Volaris to several popular destinations in Mexico.” said Craig Simon, Interim Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “We thank travelers for choosing OAK this January, especially those who chose to Fly the East Bay Way on our growing number of international nonstop flights.”
