SATA Azores Airlines once again operates weekly nonstop services between OAK and Terceira Airport (TER), Azores, Portugal aboard widebody Airbus A330 jets. Flights will operate beginning June 13th through September 20th.

Eastbound – Weekly (Wednesdays): Depart OAK 1:45 PM - Arrive TER 6:45 AM

“We welcome the return of this SATA Azores Airlines this summer.” says Craig Simon, Acting Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland. “We know that Bay Area travelers truly value and look forward to this special international service that allows tourists and family to easily visit the amazing and unique Azores.”

SATA Azores Airlines has flown this special service at OAK during the summer for over 20-years. It remains the sole nonstop service from the US western states to the Atlantic Ocean archipelago. The nine islands of the Azores, which are part of Portugal, cover nearly 400 miles and are the closest point in Europe to the United States. There are deep connections between the San Francisco East Bay and the Azores with many using the convenient nonstop flight to visit family and friends each year. The Azores are also a paradise for hikers, walkers, and cyclists. SATA Azores Airlines also offers connections from its Terceira base onward to Lisbon. International flights at OAK operate from Terminal One.

SATA is an acronym derived from the original name of the airline: Sociedade Açoriana de Transporte Aéreo. It was founded in August 1941 and was established with the purpose of being an inter-island airline that would connect the Azorean archipelago to continental Portugal.
