New nonstop seasonal service to San Salvador flies four times weekly

Oakland, Calif. – December 12, 2023: Last night, Star Alliance carrier Avianca Airlines launched its inaugural service at Oakland International Airport (OAK). A ribbon cutting celebration for the new carrier was held at the gate ahead of the first departure to San Salvador, where passengers were treated with complimentary cookies.

Seasonal nonstop flights to San Salvador (SAL) will operate through January 29th, 2024. Flights will be served by Avianca’s fleet of Airbus A320 NEOs, seating 180 passengers and featuring a range of à la carte seating and service options from which travelers can choose. The service will increase accessibility and convenience for passengers traveling between the San Francisco Bay Area and El Salvador. Seats are available for purchase at Avianca.com. 

The flights follow the schedule below: 

  • Depart OAK 11:00 PM - Arrive SAL 6:30 AM (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) 
  • Depart SAL 5:45 PM - Arrive OAK 9:50 PM (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday)
