“Spirit uniquely answers the demand for nonstop flights by those travelling between the East Bay and the East Coast, as well as Dallas, using their home airport here at O-A-K,” says Craig Simon, Acting Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “We consistently understand from local travelers that current journey times between their home and an airport further away can often take longer than the flight itself. Now, Spirit gives East Bay travelers a quicker, more affordable option.”
The airline features a low base fare and unbundled products and services allowing customers to pay for only what they choose from a range including, but not limited to, the Big Front Seat, assigned seating, extra legroom, early boarding, the Savers Club and the Free Spirit frequent flier program. Most recently Spirit has introduced Wi-Fi for purchase with a flight pass costing $11.99 for Browsing and $14.99 for Steaming Speed Wi-Fi service. Wi-Fi is currently available on the A320 NEO aircraft used on the OAK to Newark and OAK to Philadelphia flights, subject to equipment change.
