Passengers from international flights, including nonstop Paris service, get new perk at Pittsburgh International Airport
New airport procedure saves international travelers time, hassle
Delta passengers flying nonstop from Paris to Pittsburgh International Airport will be greeted Monday with a new perk – they won’t have to clear security again to leave the facility.
CEO Christina Cassotis made it a top priority to change the re-entry procedure for international arriving passengers to allow them to avoid being screened by security twice. The upgrade coincides with the start of Delta’s nonstop service from Paris to Pittsburgh on Monday. The first departing flight is scheduled to leave Sunday. The service goes daily in June.
“This was an important upgrade for international passengers, and we’re thrilled to offer the new service for our customers,” Cassotis said. “Pittsburgh International Airport is a world-class facility. This is another example of the great services available here.”
The new procedure includes all international arrivals, including Punta Cana and Cancun.
Previously, after clearing customs passengers were required to go through security before entering the Airside Terminal. As part of solution, airport crews are constructing a barrier that will guide passengers to the Landside Terminal without requiring them to go through security. The barrier is expected to be completed next week.
Shuttle buses will handle the first days of arrivals by transporting passengers to the Landside Terminal.
Delta launched nonstop service in 2009 from Pittsburgh International Airport to Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and has had great success on the route. Delta offers nonstop Pittsburgh to Paris service five times weekly and will go daily from June 15 through Sept. 6. The flight will return to five times per week Sept. 7 through Oct. 24.
