Pittsburgh International Named a Travel + Leisure Top 10 Domestic Airport
Every year for Travel + Leisure's "World’s Best" Awards survey, readers are asked to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Airports were rated on access, check-in and security, restaurants and bars, shopping, and design.
From the moment they land, passengers traveling through Pittsburgh International Airport get to experience the unique vibe of a revitalized region. PIT landed at number 6 on Travel and Leisure’s 10 Best Domestic Airports for 2017. This is a two-spot jump from last year’s ranking.
Pittsburgh International now serves 68 nonstop destinations, an increase over the 37 destinations available in 2014. The airport has seen multiple new carriers enter the market including Condor, WOW, Allegiant, Frontier, OneJet, Spirit, and Southern Airways, as well as additions from Southwest, Delta and JetBlue. Last year, the airport had its busiest year since 2008 with more than 8.3 million passengers, posting a third straight year of gains after more than a decade of decline.
