‘Guardians of the Gateway’ workshop attracts veterans to continue to serve
Career workshop at Sea-Tac International Airport connected veterans with federal, local agencies
SEATTLE – The Port of Seattle along with its federal partners U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Northwest Seaport Alliance, and the Port of Tacoma, hosted a career workshop for veterans to inform them of the career opportunities at our Pacific Northwest gateway.
“Nearly every port in the nation is experiencing delays moving passengers and cargo through their gateway,” said Port of Seattle Commission President Tom Albro. “Veterans come prepared to hit the ground running, and are great assets for any organization protecting our gateways.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection jobs offer veterans expedited and preferential hiring, as well as locational preference to ensure a job right here in the Puget Sound.
Jobs at our seaports and airport offer numerous opportunities for veterans and transitional military, from police teams such as K-9, dive team, bomb disposal and marine patrol to container terminal security officers.
Employer representatives briefed veterans and transitioning military during the event on the application processes, salaries and benefits, open positions and career growth opportunities.
