SEA Welcomes Announcement of Edelweiss Air’s New Service to Zurich

Seasonal service to begin June 2, 2025

From high-quality museums and galleries to orchestras, a major film festival, and of course the spectacular outdoor scenery, Zurich has many things in common with Seattle. Starting early next year, nonstop direct flights on Edelweiss Air will connect Switzerland’s largest city to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

“Whether you’re going to Switzerland or coming from there to visit Seattle, a journey on either continent just got easier with this connection between world-class cities,” said Lance Lyttle, SEA Airport Managing Director. “SEA continues to provide new opportunities to experience new regions of the world. And don’t forget, Zurich is the home of FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association), which will be in Seattle to host the World Cup in 2026!”

"We are delighted to add Seattle as our latest destination in the USA," says Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss. "This nonstop service offers a convenient link to Zurich, at the heart of Europe, while also bringing a significant number of Swiss travelers to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Swiss visitors typically enjoy longer stays and contribute more economically compared to visitors from other countries. We anticipate bringing over 5,000 visitors to Seattle each summer, generating an economic impact of more than $20 million for the region."

Edelweiss, Switzerland’s leading leisure airline and sister airline of SWISS International Air Lines, is adding Seattle as its sixth destination in the U.S./Canada (Denver, Las Vegas, and Tampa in the U.S., with Calgary and Vancouver in Canada, plus adding Halifax in 2025). The twice-weekly service will be on an Airbus A340-300 aircraft connecting to the Edelweiss, SWISS, and Star Alliance networks extending across Europe and beyond. The airline’s global route network includes over 90 destinations across more than 30 countries.
