Flybe adds 2,500 Seats on French routes from London Southend due to popular demand
Due to strong bookings and growing demand, Flybe, operated by Stobart Air, is adding 2,500 extra seasonal seats on its new routes from London Southend Airport to France.
Flybe will be adding a total of 28 extra flights per week between Rennes and Caen-Normandy for July and August.
The airline will operate 10 additional flights on its Rennes route from 26 July and an extra 18 flights on its Caen-Normandy route from 27 July. As well as additional flights on the Caen route, the service will now be available six instead of four days per week, with services operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Flybe recently launched six new routes from London Southend to continental Europe and 30,000 passengers are already booked to fly on those routes.
Flybe launched its new daily service from London Southend to Rennes in June, with one-way fares from £29.99*. The airline aims to carry 50,000 passengers to and from Rennes in its first full year, increasing to 165,000 passengers within three years.
Earlier this month Flybe’s service from London Southend to Caen-Normandy started with one-way fares from £29.99*. The airline aims to carry 18,000 passengers to and from Caen-Normandy in its first full year and 50,000 passengers within three years.
Simon Fagan, Chief Commercial Officer at Stobart Air said “We are delighted with the popularity of our new routes and to announce the addition of seasonal flights from London Southend to Caen-Normandy and Rennes. The response from our passengers has been very positive and the demand on those routes has grown beyond our expectations. We have already surpassed 30,000 passengers booked to fly on our network from London Southend to Europe and as a result, we are adding additional seasonal flights to meet demand for the remainder of the summer.
The route has been equally popular among both leisure and business passengers who are attracted by competitive prices and convenient schedules as well as the efficiency of London Southend Airport. With the addition of seasonal flights on this service, we are well on course to reach our target of flying 18,000 and 50,000 passengers in one year to Caen-Normandy and Rennes respectively.”
Roger Clements, Managing Director, London Southend Airport said “This is very welcome news for London Southend Airport which is further testament to the popularity of the airport for business and leisure travellers alike. Adding these seasonal flights will enable more passengers to experience the benefits of London Southend Airport and I look forwarding to welcoming them in the month ahead.”
London Southend Airport’s new terminal is less than 100 paces from a brand new rail station, with up to eight rail services every hour. It is only 53 minutes by train to Liverpool Street Station in the heart of the City of London.
