Double digit growth at Southampton Airport in August 2013

The strongest areas of growth were to the European summer sun destinations including Palma, Malaga, Alicante, Faro and Verona. Flights to Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney in the Channel Islands were also very popular.

“There are a number of reasons for this strong growth in August. These include extra flights being provided by Flybe, a range of competitive ticket prices and growing confidence in the economy. Also, this time last year the Olympic Games were taking place in the UK, and we know that some people chose to stay at home to watch this rather than taking a summer holiday in 2012.

We are also looking forward to a busy winter season at Southampton Airport with our largest ever ski season starting here in December.”
