Sheremetyevo airport became the winner of the first national awards “Transport safety of Russia”

On the 3-rd of December 2015, Sheremetyevo International airport was recognized the winner in nomination “the Best entity of transport infrastructure in air transport in the field of transport security”. The first ceremony of awarding the national prize “Transport safety of Russia” was held in hotel “Soviet”.
The award was established by the Association “Transport security” and fund “Transport security” with the support of the State Duma and the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation. Its expert Council includes representatives of government agencies, professional associations, and companies that create special equipment.
Sheremetyevo international airport is implementing all activities of the aviation and transport security envisaged by Russian legislation and international practice ICAO.
To prevent aviation accidents and acts of unlawful interference in the activities of the airport in Sheremetyevo the following security measures are applied in addition to passenger and luggage screening: an integrated system of surveillance, profiling, the work of canine service, patrol in the terminals and on the railway stations, the control of arriving cargo, the security of aircraft and internal areas of the airport, access control, inspection at the checkpoint.
Currently, the control of passengers, visitors and airport staff when you enter the terminals (points of examination equipped with stationary and hand-held metal detectors and introscopes), baggage of passengers inspected in manual and automatic ways. Further, the passengers and their hand luggage are inspected at the points of pre-flight inspection. Microwave scanners and gas analyzers of new generation are in operation.
A multilevel system of automatic hundred percent inspection of baggage and analytical surveillance system that identifies potentially dangerous items according to the specified parameters is implemented.
All equipment is certified, meets the international requirements and is absolutely safe for the health of passengers and staff.
National award “Transport safety of Russia” established by the Association “Transport security” and the Fund “Transport security” with the support of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly and the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation.
National award “Transport safety of Russia” is an annual event of the national scale, which aim is encouragement and promotion of achievements, innovate practices and solutions in the field of transport security, the assessment of achievements of enterprises and organizations, heads and specialists of transport industry, public authorities, contributing to the development and strengthening of transport security in the Russian Federation.
Part of the funds of the Award will be sent on support of establishments of social protection of children.
Sheremetyevo International Airport is the best airport in Europe in service quality in 2012 and 2013 and the second in the continent by the results of 2014 according to the rating of ASQ (Airport Service Quality) and ACI (Airports Council International).
Sheremetyevo is the largest Russian Airport that operates regular international and domestic flights. The number of destinations of Sheremetyevo airport includes more than 200 directions.
At the end of 2014 the volume of passenger traffic was 31million 568 thousands of passengers and it’s 7,9% more than in 2013.
