In February Chopin Airport once again achieved record results
In February Chopin Airport once again achieved record results, with all-time high passenger traffic and aircraft movement numbers. The airport served more than 939 thousand passengers, 26.6% more than in the corresponding month of 2016.
February also saw a spike in air operations. In the shortest month of the year carriers performed nearly 10.5 thousand operations, ie. a 11.4% increase compared with the previous February. The year-on-year growth has been even more remarkable, if considering the results from January. As of the beginning of 2017 Chopin Airport handled 21.9 thousand aircraft movements (+14.2%) and served 1.9 million passengers (+28.5%). “The numbers stem from the airport’s policy to focus on transfer traffic. According to our estimates, we should serve more than 14 million passengers this year,” declares Mariusz Szpikowski, general director of ‘Polish Airports’ State Enterprise, the operator of Warsaw Chopin Airport. Chopin Airport handles nearly 38% of passenger traffic in Poland. It offers 114 regular services operated by 36 airlines to 47 countries. In 2016 the airport served 12.8 million travellers.
