Nearly 7 million passengers served at Chopin Airport in the first half of 2017
In the first half of this year, the Warsaw airport served nearly 7 million passengers, that is about one quarter more than at the same time last year. In June 2017, Chopin Airport served 1.52 million passengers – over 20% more than in June 2016.
The number of passengers travelling domestically in the period of January – June exceeded 1 million and it was 66% higher than in 2016. The number of passengers in international traffic was almost 6 million, which means that it increased by about 20%. In the first half of the year, 13 new routes were opened, including 3 non-European ones: Los Angeles, Newark and Astana. The second carrier launched flights on 2 existing routes. A further increase in the number of carried passengers is expected due to the fact that at the end of June and at the beginning of July, the second-largest carrier at Warsaw Chopin Airport – Wizz Air launched 7 flights, including 4 on new routes. In August and September, the launch of flights on 2 operated routes to Gothenburg and Vilnius is planned respectively by: the national carrier LOT Polish Airlines and Wizz Air.

Warsaw Chopin Airport is the biggest airport in Poland. In 2016 the airport served 12.8 million passengers – 14.4 % more than in 2015. The airport is managed by "Polish Airports" State Enterprise, which employs more than 1.5 thousand people.
