Warsaw Chopin Airport beats another passenger traffic records and prepares for summer holiday peak
Currently, the airport in Warsaw is heading towards its hottest period – and not just literally. The peak of summer holiday departures and returns is beginning. We expect that further historic records of the number of passengers served will be set in July and August. Undoubtedly, this will be influenced by, among other things, opening of 8 new destinations by LOT Polish Airlines in the first half-year, and 7 destinations by Wizzair at the turn of June and July, as well as the planned opening of further destinations by both carriers in the summer.
In the first half-year, 7 million people were served. This indicates that their number will increase to over 14 million at the end of the year. To handle such a number of passengers, new solutions are introduced at the airport.
“In June, the document check zone of the Border Guard for the passengers departing from Warsaw was commissioned. The number of available stands increased from 10 to 18. The passport check zone for the flights operated with passenger bridges was modernised last year. Currently, design works aimed at modernisation of the last passport check zone, are in progress,” said Hubert Wojciechowski, the Marketing and PR Office Director of Warsaw Chopin Airport.
In order to smoothly manage the available infrastructure – the gates for passengers – we will use the possibility of their flexible assignment to Schengen or Non-Schengen zone, depending on needs. In order to facilitate the passenger traffic in the Terminal after these changes, we have introduced new markings of gates. If the flight is processed through a gate in the Non-Schengen zone you must follow the marking with the letter “N” behind the gate number, e.g. 7N, 24N. If this is a flight to the Schengen zone, then the number is without any letter. Also, the gate numbers with N or without N, depending on the zone, will appear on a boarding pass.
