A Planespotter’s Dream Come True
Malaysia Airports Introduces its 1st Outdoor Planespotter Observation Deck at KL International Airport
SEPANG – Malaysia Airports is excited to announce that it will be building its first outdoor planespotter observation deck at KL International Airport (IATA Code: KUL) in its bid to transform the airport and its surrounding area into an attractive destination where visitors can have unique experiences. The deck named as Anjung Spotter will be constructed just outside the perimeter of the airport adjacent to one of KUL's three runways. From the Anjung Spotter, members of the public will be able to capture panoramic moments of aircraft taking off and landing on the runway. Planespotters and aviation aficionados will be delighted to know that they will now have a perfect view from the deck of aircraft arriving at Runway 32L allowing them to take great line-up shots.
According to the group chief executive officer of Malaysia Airports, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, the outdoor planespotter observation deck is a symbol of the organisation’s commitment in elevating the airport experience. He mentioned that back in the day, whole families used to have picnics near the airports while they watch the planes fly past them. These days, young enthusiastic planespotters armed with cameras are spending their evenings near the airports across the nation just for the joy of taking priceless shots of the beautiful giant metal birds.
"Some even bring their families too. We have met many of them with their children in tow who aspire to be pilots or work in the aviation industry when they grow up. Hence, building the Anjung Spotter is one of our ways to inspire these children further. Above all, the outdoor observation deck will be a dream come true for our planespotter community," he added.
Raja Azmi also said that the Anjung Spotter will also be made a must visit tourist attraction for visitors arriving at KUL. Plans are underway to promote this outdoor observation deck. There are currently many international planespotters who fly to Malaysia to meet up with their counterparts here before going on a photography adventure at the airport. The Anjung Spotter will definitely be the next Insta-worthy spot.
Construction for the Anjung Spotter is scheduled to begin this month and it is estimated to be completed by April. The public can look forward to an elevated area that can accommodate up to 40 people at one time. Those who need some quiet time from the hustle and bustle of city life can also head to the Anjung Spotter to relax and watch the planes go by during the golden hour.
