Malaysia Airports Awarded for Organisational Excellence
Malaysia Airports has received two awards last week which further acknowledges its commitment to achieve the highest standard of business integrity, ethics and professionalism.On 10 December, Malaysia Airports was awarded the Distinction Award in the Malaysian Corporate Governance Index 2009. Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports received the award on behalf of the company at the award presentation ceremony.
SEPANG, 17 Dec - Malaysia Airports has received two awards last week which further acknowledges its commitment to achieve the highest standard of business integrity, ethics and professionalism.
On 10 December, Malaysia Airports was awarded the Distinction Award in the Malaysian Corporate Governance Index 2009. Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports received the award on behalf of the company at the award presentation ceremony.
The inaugural Malaysian Corporate Governance Index aims to promote best practices in corporate governance among public-listed companies in Malaysia, and was organised by the Minority Shareholder Watchdog Group (MSWG) on 8 December.
Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports said: "We are pleased to be recognised by MSWG in the area of corporate governance. We believe in the positive effect of good corporate governance, which will ultimately strengthen the company's image, reputation and trust of various stakeholders."
He added: "This achievement also indicates that we are amongst the top 10 performers in corporate governance."
The second award was from the National Award for Management Accounting (NAfMA) 2009 where Malaysia Airports received the Best Practice Award (Public Listed Company).
Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad said: "The NAfMA award certifies that Malaysia Airports performed well in the criteria used, which are recognised internationally. It proves our commitment in improving management excellence and financial prudence. It is also a testimony of our commitment to promote management accounting as a strategic tool in our pursuit to provide a world class airport business."
The Best Practice Award was also an improvement for Malaysia Airports, having been awarded the Certificate of Merit in 2008.
Overall in 2009, Malaysia Airports has received numerous awards in different fields - airport operations, branding, environment, corporate responsibility and corporate governance. These two latest awards further add feathers to its cap, and Malaysia Airports will strive for a better overall performance in the year 2010.
