Ryanair Celebrates Carrying 100,000 Customers At GLASGOW Airport
Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline, today (10 Dec) celebrated carrying 100,000 customers at its new Glasgow base which opened at the end of October.
Ryanair has seen huge demand on routes from its 3rd Scottish base which operates 7 new routes this winter and 9 new routes for summer 2015, delivering over 850,000 passengers p.a. and supporting over 850 “on-site” jobs* at Glasgow International Airport.
Ryanair celebrated carrying 100,000 customers at Glasgow Airport by releasing 100,000 seats for sale across its European network, at prices from £14.99 for travel in December, January and February. These low fare seats are available for booking until midnight Thursday (11 Dec).
The airline also gave away one return flight to London Stansted and an overnight stay in the Radisson Blu Stansted hotel for one lucky passenger. Harry Campbell – a business traveller from Paisley in Renfrewshire – was about to board the Ryanair morning flight to London Stansted when his name was selected out of a hat.
He was awarded with his prize from two representatives from Ryanair – Lisa Buckley and Maria Macken.
In Glasgow, Ryanair’s Maria Macken said: “Ryanair is delighted to celebrate its 100,000 customer at its new Glasgow Airport base which launched at the end of October. Ryanair has seen huge demand for its 7 new winter routes at Glasgow Airport as customers in Scotland snap up Ryanair’s lowest fares to top destinations including London Stansted, Dublin and Derry.
“Our 7 new Glasgow winter routes with multiple daily frequencies to London Stansted and Dublin are ideal for business customers and families, with fares starting from £14.99 one-way. Ryanair customers can also enjoy allocated seating, a free second carry-on bag, reduced fees, a new website, a brand new app with mobile boarding passes, and our great new Family Extra and Business Plus services.
“To celebrate 100,000 customers at Glasgow Airport, we are releasing 100,000 seats on sale from £14.99 for travel in December, January and February which are available for booking until midnight Thursday (11 Dec). Francois Bourienne, Glasgow Airport’s commercial director, said:
“Ryanair has been a fantastic new addition to Glasgow Airport and we are extremely pleased to have the airline on board. The fact that we are seeing Ryanair carry its 100,000th passenger today is testament to the popularity of its seven routes this winter amongst our customers.
“Ryanair has ambitious plans for growth, particularly amongst Glasgow’s business community, which is why it is focused on opening new bases at primary airports, such as Glasgow. We are committed to working with Ryanair to continue to enhance our route offering and deliver services based on customer demand.
