Glasgow Airport one of Europe's fastest growing airports

Glasgow Airport was one of Europe’s fastest growing airports during the first six months of 2015 according to European airport trade body, ACI Europe, which has released its traffic report for June, Q2 and H1 2015 (January to June).

The report confirmed that Glasgow Airport was also the third fastest growing airport in its category during June 2015.

ACI Europe categorises airports based on passenger numbers with Glasgow Airport falling into group three - airports welcoming between 5 and 10 million passengers.

Glasgow Airport recorded its busiest June on record after 905,689 passengers travelled through its doors during the month, representing an annual increase of 14.2% and ensuring the airport was able to record its 28th consecutive month of growth.  The airport has also recorded double digit percentage growth in its passenger numbers since November 2014.

The 'ACI EUROPE Airport Traffic Report – June, Q2 & H1’ includes 211 airports in total representing more than 88% of European air passenger traffic.

Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI EUROPE said “The first half of this year has seen solid passenger traffic growth for the European airport industry. However, where as recently as 18 months ago Non-EU airports were propping up weaker passenger traffic growth at EU airports, we are now through the looking glass. The situation has flipped and EU airports now lead the growth – reporting +5.1% during the first half of the year, compared with +2.3% at Non-EU airports.”
