Helsinki Airport is the main partner for the World Design Capital 2012 project
Helsinki Airport has signed a partnership agreement with the International Design Foundation, which is responsible for the World Design Capital 2012 project. The agreement is based on the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) selection, in which the Finnish capital, Helsinki, will be the World Design Capital for 2012.
"Helsinki Airport is Northern Europe's leading transfer airport for traffic between Europe and Asia. Our involvement in the WDC Helsinki 2012 project is a natural part of the airport's innovative development work and showcasing of Scandinavian design", explains Senior Vice President and Marketing Director Kimmo Ruotsalainen.
Helsinki Airport has a long tradition in showcasing Finnish design. Design is not only apparent in the Airport's award-winning architecture and choice of high-quality, Scandinavian materials for its interiors, but also its product selections, which are emphasised by the presence of top Nordic brands.
Thanks to its smooth service, friendliness and pleasant ambience, Helsinki Airport has remained one of the top European airports for nearly 15 years. According to Ruotsalainen, Design Capital 2012 will continue these efforts and the airport will be investing particularly in service design.
"Service design and developing the customer experience are Helsinki Airport's trump cards, which it will use to differentiate itself from other airports. It is also a key factor in enhancing customer satisfaction as well as in achieving the goal of becoming the most popular transfer airport for traffic between Europe and Asia."
