"Digital is in the air: pathway to digital innovation and new passenger services Torino Airport inaugurated The Innovation Lab
Torino Airport has embraced the digital transformation with the aim of improving passenger experience and guide the company to organizational change. The path involved the entire airport ecosystem, including passengers, to understand their needs and identify the best innovative solutions together.
The first concrete results are already available to passengers: enhanced dedicated wi-fi, web app to enjoy airport offers, e-gates for reading boarding passes, digital locker for luggage, the system for managing and monitoring queue times at security channels and the Digital Safety Management System, the digital platform for sharing data in real-time among all partners operating at the airport.
Other digital solutions are already in the process of implementation - including a new e-commerce platform, a native app, the installation of digital lockers to pick up your goods on arrival at airport or to collect goods purchased on departure - while for other applications a feasibility study is under way.
All these initiatives allow Torino Airport to meet the needs of users more quickly and effectively, sharing the benefits of digital transformation with an ever increasing number of partners, thus creating shared value.
The symbol of this path is the Innovation Lab, a space of dialogue and research created at Torino Airport to test digital solutions to improve today’s airport experience. A "transparent" place fully integrated in the Departures Lounge where all the steps of the passenger journey have been recreated, a space of inclusive development where collaboration, projects and innovation move together. The Innovation Lab is available to companies, start-ups, study centers, universities that want to develop and test innovative solutions dedicated to all airport activities and to passenger interactions.
The presentation of the project and the inauguration of the Innovation Lab represented an opportunity of dialogue with some of the most innovation-driven companies, with testimonies of Alessandro Boglione, Chief Executive Officer of BasicItalia SpA; Alberto Dalmasso, CEO of Satispay; Fabio Mozzone, Marketing Director of Baladin; Giuliana Mattiazzo, Vice-Rector for Technology Transfer at the Politecnico di Torino; Germano Paini, Head of Innovation and
Competitiveness Project at the University of Torino and Fabio Sferruzzi, Managing Director of Talent Garden Torino.
