20 years: The fire brigade kicks off events! Programme of 9 to 11 September
As part of the festivities for the 20th anniversary, the fire brigade of Brussels South Charleroi Airport organises various events this coming weekend around the theme of "security at airports". The programme starts Friday 9 September and runs until Sunday 11 September. It includes the following events:
9 September 2011: Aviation Safety Congress
A symposium in which professionals of the sector (fire brigade, police, etc.) engage with the issue of security at airports. The symposium starts at 9 am. The day ends at 11:30 pm with a brass band concert and is intended for security professionals and airport employees.
10 September 2011: Security Day
Everyone is welcome on the site of the old terminal to visit an exhibition on airport security. Fire brigade and police are giving safety demonstrations and several other activities have been organized. In the afternoon a "motorcycle challenge" will take place. The day ends with a rock concert (paid). In short, an informative and active day for young and old.
11 September 2011: Commemoration of the September-11 attacks
Intended for airport employees, a memorial ceremony of the September -11 attacks will take place on the site of the old terminal in the presence of a USA representative and with the participation of the Cornemuse Claymore Pipe Band. After, a guided motorbike parade will head for Brussels to hand "Manneken Pis" his "Red Lion" uniform.
