Press trips: how to keep your camera material as hand luggage
On a press trip, it is recommended to bring your camera material as hand luggage. However, permission for extra hand luggage must be explicitly granted in advance by the airline.
If the airport of Brussels South Charleroi is not aware of your departure, it is therefore impossible for us to inform the airline about your special needs. Journalists and photographers too often have to pay an expensive extra fee for bringing their material into cabin (fees for second hand luggage and its weight) because the airport was not informed.
To avoid this kind of inconvenience, the airport has set up a very easy procedure. We invite all journalists and photographers to inform us ultimately 7 days before your flight. By giving us your departure date and flight reference in time, we can make all necessary arrangements. If we are informed later than 7 days, we cannot guarantee authorization for extra hand luggage, even though we will do our best to sort it out.
We thank you in advance for forwarding this procedure towards all your colleagues and freelance journalists of your newsroom to avoid unnecessary stress and irritation during baggage check.
