WIZZ AIR CELEBRATES 10 YEARS AT BSCA
This year, Wizz Air is celebrating a decade on the tarmac of Brussels South Charleroi Airport.
It was back in 2004 that one of the biggest low-cost airlines in the European Union arrived at Charleroi. That year, two new European capitals were added to the range of destinations available from BSCA, namely, Budapest and Warsaw. Following on from the immediate success of its first two routes, the airline has continued to grow at Charleroi. The airline now flies to eight cities (Bucharest, Budapest, Cluj, Ljubljana, Skopje, Sofia, Timisoara and Warsaw). A major event marks this tenth anniversary; it is in 2014 that the airline saw its 3,500,000th passenger take off from Brussels South Charleroi Airport.
BSCA’s CEO, Jean-Jacques Cloquet, is delighted about Wizz Air’s 10 years at Charleroi, as well as its growth: “An airline’s tenth anniversary is worth celebrating! Wizz Air’s arrival at Charleroi in 2004 allowed the airport to offer a new product and new destinations from BSCA. 2004 was not only the year in which the airline touched down in Charleroi for the first time, but it was also the year the airline was founded. We have now been working together here for 10 years to carry on offering our passengers new services. We are also delighted to see that in 10 years, more than 3,500,000 passengers have taken off from our airport with Wizz Air”.
Daniel De Carvalho, Corporate Communications at Wizz Air, announces: “We are thrilled to be celebrating 10 years of Wizz Air’s low prices at Brussels South Charleroi. With eight routes to Central and Eastern European countries, five of which are capitals, we have the most to offer our Belgian customers and we are delighted to be able to welcome others taking off from BSCA”.
To celebrate Wizz Air’s 10 years at BSCA and the departure of the 3.500,000th passenger, the airline and the airport wanted to give Mr Geert W. a few Belgian treats as well as a voucher to use on any destination in the Wizz Air network. These gifts were given to him in person by Petra, the airline’s ambassador taking care of the flight from Charleroi to Budapest this morning.
