BRUSSELS SOUTH CHARLEROI AIRPORT UP 13% IN FEBRUARY 2016: 489.481 PASSENGERS CHOOSE BSCA
Charleroi, 11 March 2016 – After growth in January 2016 compared with the previous year, Brussels South Charleroi Airport ended February with a 13% increase on the results for 2015. 489,481 passengers set foot on the tarmac at BSCA, compared with 432,403 in the same month last year.
The growth in these first two months is due in particular to improvements in the load factor of the aircraft using Brussels South Charleroi Airport, compared with 2015. This rose to almost 85% in February.
Whether for tourism, city breaks, business or other reasons, popular destinations were the Mediterranean Basin and Eastern Europe. For the second successive month, Italy was the number one country for flights from Charleroi, followed by Spain, Morocco, France and Poland.
The increase in the number of passengers using BSCA demonstrates the attractions of the airport in terms of accessibility, punctuality and operational performance. Work on the extension to Brussels South Charleroi Airport terminal T2 will begin on Monday. This terminal will increase peak capacity in order to relieve the existing terminal. It will offer greater passenger comfort, while continuing to develop BSCA’s business and securing the future of its operations.
