Brussels South Charleroi Airport gets in the holiday mood: High passenger numbers expected for the summer getaway

The first major spike in passenger traffic is expected on Monday 26 June, while the weekend of 1 July 2017 will provide the second busy period. The pattern will remain unchanged in the days that follow and over the school holidays, with the airport set to handle nearly 30,000 passengers a day.

As is the case every year, southern Europe is the destination of choice for passengers using Brussels South Charleroi Airport, with the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands proving especially popular with travellers looking for hot and sunny climes. Served by Air Corsica from BSCA, Corsica is proving a very popular port of call this year with its two destinations, Ajaccio and Bastia. The carrier has also increased the number of seats it is offering for the holiday season by five percent. City breaks are a major lure too, not least to the jewels of Eastern Europe, among them Budapest, Prague and Warsaw, to name but a few.

Here are a few key recommendations for travellers before they set off:

• Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport between two and three hours before their flight.
• Brussels South Charleroi Airport offers a range of car parks to cater for every budget, from short-stay to long:
  • Anyone coming to drop off or pick up passengers should park in the P1 car park, where the first 15 minutes are free.
  • Reduced mobility passengers are advised to use the ground floor (0) of the P1 car park, where 45 spaces are set aside for them and where parking is also free for the first 15 minutes.
  • Passengers catching medium-haul flights should use the P2 car park, which offers speedy access to the terminal on foot.

BSCA would like to remind travellers that work is currently being carried out on the approaches to the P1 and P2 car parks with a view to making them easier to access. We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause.

• We would remind anyone using the airport, either for arrivals and departures, to check which terminal they need: T1 or T2. This information can be found at the airport website – http://www.charleroi-airport.com – and on the display screens in the airport car parks.
• Travellers are also asked to check that they have their identity documents with them prior to their arrival at the airport. Only valid national identity cards and passports will be accepted.
• Should passengers have any questions regarding check-in procedures and baggage allowances, they are advised to consult the website of the airline with whom they are travelling.
