Growth at Brussels South Charleroi Airport: 4% more passengers recorded in January 2019
Charleroi, 20 February 2019 – While the eight million passenger mark was reached in 2018, Brussels South Charleroi Airport has recorded a new increase in its passenger numbers. 555,718 travellers crossed the tarmac at BSCA in January 2019, compared with 531,897 last year, so a rise of 4%. Last month, the load factor was 82%.
During the first month of the year, the Mediterranean attracted the largest number of travellers. Italy has consolidated its position as the most visited country in 2018, and is number one in the list of most popular destinations. Italy is followed by Spain, Morocco and France. Lastly, an Eastern European country takes fifth place: Poland.
As far as news is concerned, the airline Wizz Air has announced a new route to Kutaisi, the first direct line to Georgia from Brussels South Charleroi Airport. The Brussels Charleroi – Kutaisi line will be launched on 4 August 2019 and the first plane will be taking off from BSCA at 19.55, to land in Georgia at around 02.25 (local time).
For its part, Ryanair has formalised the launch of its new route to the South of France. Béziers Cap D’Agde airport will be connected to Brussels South Charleroi Airport by three flights a week as of 2 April 2019.

It has been an encouraging start to the year, especially with the announcement of two new routes from our airport. The commercial extension work continues and should allow us to welcome our passengers to a new zone in summer 2019. As far as digital technology is concerned, we are also making progress, and look forward to being able to offer passengers a whole new travelling experience”.
