The World's Best Golfing Destination is Portugal

Portugal and the Algarve are once again in the spotlight for excellence. This time for Golf. 

For the second consecutive year the gala of the World Golf Awards 2015, the "Oscars" of golf, which took place this weekend at the hotel Conrad Algarve, Quinta do Lago recognised the Algarve and Portugal's excellence in this product.

Portugal renewed its title of Best European Golf Destination and Quinta do Lago was voted Best Venue in Europe Golf. In this category, the Algarve resort surpassed the Italian competition, Swedish, French, Welsh, Scottish and even Portuguese.

Nationally, Pine Cliffs Resort in Albufeira, was declared the Best Hotel Golf Portugal, while the expert DMC PAGS Golf - Portugal Algarve Golf Services, located in Vilamoura, winning the category of Best Tour Operator of Inbound Portugal .
Golf is a vital segment of the global tourism market and the organization of the event estimated that in 2015 this is the main motivation of a total of 60 million trips to the nearly 32,000 golf courses and resorts around the world.

The Algarve has also been in the spotlights this week with the launch of its campaign #obrigadoalgarve (Thankyou Algarve) by the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) to bring awareness about welcoming tourists to the region. 

Using positive reinforcement techniques RTA used selfies taken by tourists to the Algarve to show those who work here how well visitors are welcomed and how happy they are. The multimedia campaign will run until the end of December and it is hoped to generate positive vibes and a wish to be even more welcoming.
