Nearly 308,000 passengers in the first 10 months of the year, with a flight occupancy rate of 87%: +15% compared to the first 10 months of 2023; +49% October 2024 vs October 2023
Rimini, 4th November 2024 – AIRiminum 2014, the management company of Rimini and San Marino International Airport, reports that as of 31 October, the increase in commercial passengers recorded in the first 10 months of 2024 is approximately +15% compared to the same period in 2023.
The total number of passengers is almost 308,000. Excluding Russian and Ukrainian traffic, with reference to “Other markets” and the “first 10 months of the year”, this is Rimini airport's third all-time result. A position that will be consolidated at the end of the year.
Once again this year, a characteristic of the Rimini airport is being confirmed: aircraft fly with a high load factor of 87% (LF: load factor). In 2023, Rimini airport ranked third in the Italian airport scene (88%), after Rome Ciampino (90%) and Trapani (92%).
The top seven destinations are Tirana (about 53,000 passengers), Cagliari (about 45,000 passengers), Palermo (about 41,000 passengers), Budapest (about 31,000 passengers), Kaunas (about 31,000 passengers), Vienna (about 24,000 passengers) and London (about 23,000 passengers).
With reference to the Palermo and Cagliari routes, incoming traffic, i.e. passengers coming to Rimini from Sicily and Sardinia for leisure or business reasons, is 47.6% and 47.2% respectively.
Ryanair accounts for about 75.6% of commercial traffic while Wizzair for about 17.6%.
Kaunas is the scheduled route with the highest fill rate since the beginning of the year at 93.1%.
Foreign traffic is about 71.4% (top 5 foreign markets: Albania about 17.6%, Hungary about 10.4%, Lithuania about 10.3%, Austria about 8.0% and the UK about 7.5%), while traffic from Italy accounts for about 28.6%.
Passengers in October amounted to almost 31,000, an increase of +49% compared to October 2023, and the 94 commercial flights (188 movements) for the month flew with a fill rate of 84.1%.
The top six destinations in October were Palermo (about 5.5 thousand passengers), Tirana (about 5.4 thousand passengers), Cagliari (about 4.6 thousand passengers), Kaunas (about 3.9 thousand passengers), Vienna (about 3.3 thousand passengers) and Budapest (about 3.3 thousand passengers).
Tirana is the scheduled route with the highest fill rate in October at 92.0% followed by Kaunas with a LF of 91.4% (a complete table of data is attached).
