“This is an important milestone for the Federico Fellini International Airport,” said Leonardo Corbucci, CEO of AIRiminum 2014, the company managing Rimini Airport. “Welcoming British Airways, one of the world’s leading airlines, is a testament to the success of our strategic development efforts. This new service is not just a gateway for British tourists to explore Rimini and the Romagna Riviera, but also a vital connection for local residents and businesses to reach London and beyond. With Heathrow’s exceptional global network, travelers from our region gain access to key long-haul destinations, including New York, Boston, Chicago, and Canada.”
Corbucci added, “The arrival of British Airways aligns perfectly with our ‘Working Together’ initiative, which emphasizes collaboration with regional stakeholders to grow the airport’s international profile. Now more than ever, we need the support of the Region, the Municipality of Rimini, and local partners to capitalize on this opportunity and strengthen the airlines’ confidence in our destination.”
Andrea Corsini, Regional Councillor for Tourism, praised the new connection, stating, “This is fantastic news for Emilia-Romagna as we continue to expand our region’s appeal to international visitors. Heathrow is a strategic gateway
to Europe for travelers from the USA and Canada, markets that are particularly drawn to our Art Cities, the Motor Valley, our renowned food and wine, and the charm of our historic villages. The continued development of Federico Fellini International Airport plays a crucial role in making our region increasingly accessible to these key audiences.”
Emanuele Burioni, Director of the Emilia-Romagna Region Tourist Board/APT, highlighted the regional tourism potential: “This new route via London Heathrow follows recent announcements of flights to Basel and London Gatwick, doubling our connectivity with the United Kingdom. Apt Servizi is committed to designing impactful marketing campaigns to enhance the visibility of Emilia-Romagna’s cultural and tourism offerings, such as the Fellini Museum and the newly opened Byron Museum, to attract British and International visitors.”
Jamil Sadegholvaad, Mayor of Rimini and President of Visit Romagna, celebrated the announcement: “This marks a new chapter for Rimini as we establish daily and diverse connections with the UK and Central Europe. With both rail and air links now in place, we have the infrastructure to bring visitors from our key markets to Emilia-Romagna. It is now our collective responsibility to fill these planes and trains, showcasing the beauty and vibrancy of our region.”
The new flights represent a significant step in Rimini Airport’s multi-year development plan, reinforcing its role as a strategic hub for the entire Emilia-Romagna region.
Tickets for the Rimini-London Heathrow route are now available on the British Airways website.
