Senior tourism from Germany: from April 8 charter flights with Tour Operator Mundo Reisen

Rimini, 21st January 2025 - AIRiminum 2014, the management company of Rimini and San Marino International Airport, announces that from 23rd April to 11th June 2025, every Wednesday, Tour Operator Mundo Reisen will depart with a program of eight charter flights from Erfurt, Strasbourg, Paderborn-Lippstadt, Saarbrücken, Bremen, Dortmund and Dresden. The flights will be operated by Volotea airline with an Airbus 319.

This is the first time that Mundo Reisen - a T.O. specializing in senior tourism that addresses CRALs, various associations, banking groups, political groups and readers/subscribers of German newspapers (such as Dewezet) - has included the destination Emilia-Romagna in its catalog. Its clients are mostly people over 60 in the middle/high class, retired, who travel only by flight. The Rimini package includes A/R flight, 7 nights in a 4-star hotel and several guided excursions to Rimini, Santarcangelo, San Marino, Ravenna, Bologna, Mondaino, as well as the nearby Marche region (Gradara, Urbino).

Leonardo Corbucci, CEO of Rimini Airport, commented:

We welcome the launch of this important incoming operation from Germany, which together with Universal Air's recently announced flights from Munich, allows us to open a strategic market for the area.”

Roberta Frisoni, Councillor for Tourism, Trade, Sport of the Emilia-Romagna Region, added:

Senior tourism is a well-established phenomenon in Europe,” emphasized Regional Councillor for Tourism Roberta Frisoni, “and we are pleased to welcome the commercial debut in Emilia-Romagna of Mundo Reisen, among the leading T.O.'s in this market segment. Rimini and the Romagna Riviera, with its hinterland, picturesque villages, typical food and wine, ballroom dancing and many traditions, represent the ideal destination for this type of tourism from Germany.”

Emanuele Burioni, Director APT Servizi Emilia-Romagna, added:

The development plan of the ‘Fellini’ runs fast and adds another, important piece, strategic for the tourism promotion of our territory, thanks to the agreement with Mundo Reisen, which also includes advertising of the Rimini/Romagna destination in several German newspapers and other important and effective actions. According to an estimate of the German T.O. in the 7 weeks the package is expected to bring 1,260 arrivals and 8,820 tourist presences in Romagna. The hope on our part is that many “repeaters” will be created among Mundo Reisen's clients, captured by our land's innate sense of hospitality and its uniqueness.”

Rimini Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad concluded:

This news adds to those that, in recent weeks, show the great dynamism and activism of Rimini Airport, the announced protagonist of the 2025 tourist season for the Rimini area. It is evident how the current year may be the turning point in this sense: Rimini Airport, together with the regional and municipal institutions, has set up a schedule that is enriched with flights and routes without interruption, and all this must be read as a gigantic opportunity for the socioeconomic fabric of Rimini to 'attack' the international market in every aspect or focus. In this case, the so-called Golden Age tourism. Welcome to Rimini.”
