Rimini, 13th February 2025 - A new air connection enriches the flight plan of Rimini's Federico Fellini International Airport: the Romagna airport has been chosen by the Spanish airline Vueling, which from July 2 will activate a connection with Barcelona-El Prat Airport. The one-hour, 55-minute connection will run biweekly: Wednesdays and Sundays, will run until October 22 and will be operated with 180/186-seat Airbus A320s. Flights can be booked starting today at www.vueling.com/it/.
«London, Munich, Malta and now Barcelona: the role of the Fellini as a carrier for the international promotion of Emilia-Romagna's tourism offer is becoming more and more concrete» comments Regional Councillor for Tourism Roberta Frisoni. «The announcement of the new connection from July with Spain reinforces our region's openness and connection with the world, along with its ability to attract different types of tourism. Barcelona is a major European metropolis and will bring visitors interested in experiences not only related to the sea and the beach, but also to cultural and active vacation routes that our territories can offer. So good this international breath that we want to continue to build to make our region one great tourist destination».
«We are very pleased to have succeeded in bringing another important international company like Vueling to Rimini» declares Fellini Airport CEO Leonardo Corbucci «thanks to a fruitful teamwork with APT Servizi and the Municipality of Rimini. We start in July with the aim of building a long-term relationship to strengthen the international connection of this territory, aiming to develop the route also in the winter period. Barcelona, based on data available from the airport systems, is in the Top 3 destinations of that territory and is an important hub for connections with other Spanish and international airports. We are confident that such a flight will be a huge success, finally giving many people from Romagna the opportunity to fly to Barcelona from their home airport.»
«The share of Spanish tourists on vacation in our Region in the last 5 years has grown by +30%» comments Apt Servizi Director Emanuele Burioni «and last year between January and November we exceeded 355 thousand presences from Spain. We hope that this new strategic connection will help increase the flow of Iberian guests. From today, Rimini and the Riviera are even closer and more accessible from Spain».
«A blow» underlines Rimini Mayor and Visit Romagna President Jamil Sadegholvaad «that gives further strength to Rimini Airport's great 'buying campaign' in view of 2025. The Rimini/Barcelona -which adds to the new connections to and from London, Munich, Malta, and Basel through the agreement with companies such as British Airways, Universal Air, Ryanair, and Easyjet- gives wings to the growth of the Iberian segment, which in our province last year recorded more than 50 thousand overnight stays (+ 33% over 2023) and at the same time offers an important outgoing opportunity to serve the territory».
