The inaugural flights of the easyJet Basel-Rimini and London Gatwick-Rimini routes landed at Fellini Airport: welcoming passengers were the city band, typical food and wine, and a rescue fly

Rimini, 17th April - It was a special welcome, based on Fellini music, typical Romagna food and even a real life fly, that welcomed last night at Federico Fellini International Airport the 173 passengers of the inaugural easyJet flight EZS1127 from Basel and in the afternoon the passengers of easyJet flight EZY8377 from London Gatwick.
Greeting the tourists as they stepped off the aircraft last night were Regional Councillor for Tourism Roberta Frisoni and the Mayor of Rimini and President of Visit Romagna, Jamil Sadegholvaad along with Fellini Airport Operations Director Enzo Salvatore Arena, who posed for a photo along with Matteo Pavesi (Airport Development EasyJet), Nicholas Godfrain (Ground Ops RMI EasyJet) and Marco Annaloro (Ground Ops BSL - EasyJet).
After baggage claim, passengers, greeted by the music of the City of Rimini Youth Band, were able to enjoy typical Romagna food, accompanied by local wines, prepared for the occasion by “Piacere Spiaggia Rimini.” Testifying to Rimini's seaside identity was a rescue fly, placed in the “Arrivals” area of the Rimini airport. There was no lack of welcome gadgets: a guidebook in English of the City of Rimini and postcards of the newly inaugurated “Ciao Rimini Ciao” City Branding Project by Alessandro Malossi.
Same welcome in the afternoon to passengers on the first easyJet seasonal flight from London Gatwick, which landed at “Fellini” at 3:40 p.m. and was greeted by the traditional “baptism of flight” by the airport fire department.
Since yesterday (April 16), easyJet's Rimini - Basel and Rimini - London Gatwick connections have been operating with two flights a week on each route, every Wednesday and Sunday (www.easyjet.com).
«It was nice to see on the faces of the passengers upon arrival the surprise at the welcome we gave them – stressed Regional Councillor for Tourism Roberta Frisoni – made up of the elements that make us one of the most hospitable destinations in Europe: warmth, spontaneity, good food and music. The easyJet connections are an important pawn in our ongoing commitment to the internationalization of Emilia-Romagna's vacation offer, and we hope that many Swiss and British people will take advantage of them, to come and discover our Riviera and its beautiful hinterland with its villages and castles, perhaps straddling a bike along its many bike paths, enjoying food and much more».
«It was an opening of the season with a smile – underlines the president of Visit Romagna Jamil Sadegholvaad – and significant because it marks the debut of the collaboration with an important partner such as easyJet, creating a connection with two reference markets for incoming tourism in Romagna such as Switzerland and England. An important structural new element that confirms the potential of our airport in favor of strengthening the internationalization of our tourism and for this reason deserves to be supported by the entire territory».
«We are proud – commented Lorenzo Lagorio, Country Manager of easyJet Italy – to inaugurate our operations in Rimini today, an airport that joins our airline's network in Italy. With the new connections to London Gatwick and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, easyJet confirms its commitment to strengthening Rimini's international connectivity and supporting the growth of the area by providing 40 thousand seats this summer. We are confident that this collaboration will contribute significantly to both supporting the mobility of passengers in the area and enhancing the value of the Riviera Romagnola as a tourist destination for European passengers».
