About Us
Inspired from a study made by GPA about the need to develop intercontinental routes for Barcelona Airport. The Barcelona Air Route Development Committee (BARDC) was created at the beginning of 2005 by Aena (Spanish Airports Authority), the Catalan Autonomous Government (Generalitat), the Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce in order to promote the development of new intercontinental routes from Barcelona Airport.
The BARDC has a technical secretariat, currently held by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has delegated this activity and the associated astudies department in GPA.
The activities of the secretariat are as follows:
- Preparation of the technical documentation relative to the study of new air routes and evaluation of their operative and financial feasibility.
- Intermediation with airlines and airports.
- Planning the meetings agenda of the BARDC.
- Coordination of the promotion activities of the Airport of Barcelona in the frame of the BARDC.
- Coordination and organization of institutional missions.
- Preparation of candidacies of Barcelona to receive events of the air sector.
