Norway’s new ‘kinder egg’ of hiking trails
From 1 July it is easier than ever to combine three of Norway’s most iconic hikes. Between July and August, there will be a daily express bus route between the Pulpit Rock, Kjerag and the Troll’s Tongue. Branded ‘The Kinder Egg’, the three hikes include challenging uphill walks and spectacular views in the fjord region.
After popular demand, there is finally an easy option for those wishing to combine the three hikes. The new daily bus service in both directions takes about four hours, and means the hikes can all be done within the scope of three days.
Connecting three iconic trails
The Pulpit Rock is one of the most photographed places in Norway, and a popular day trip for locals and tourists alike. Located in the Lysefjord, just outside Stavanger, the hike up takes around two hours with a quite rapid ascent. In 2014, 250 000 visited the Pulpit Rock, making it one of the top attractions in Norway. Nearby mountain Kjerag is located further into the Lysefjord, and a much welcomed alternative for those thinking the Pulpit Rock is too crowded. While many come here for the famous Kjeragbolten, a small stone located between two rocks overlooking the fjord, it is also very popular among base jumpers and climbers.
The Troll’s Tongue is located in Odda, a few hours north. The hike up to the famed ‘tongue’ is for the more experienced hiker, and takes a good 10 hours. The view from the top is unforgettable, and is ranked as one of the best places in the world to ‘get a yes’ by Lonely Planet, in their Best in Travel 2015.

How to get here: Fly into Stavanger, and fly out from Bergen. Norwegian Air flies directly from London Gatwick to Stavanger and Bergen, from £44.90 one way.
