Kunming Changshui International Airport is the primary airport serving Kunming, and is located 27km northeast of the City Centre. The seventh largest airport in China, it has become the most rapid growing number in terms of passengers, and is expected to handle 38 million passengers per year by 2020.
The airport opened on June 28, 2012, replacing the old Kunming Wujiaba International Airport. As a gateway to Southeast and South Asia, Changshui Airport is a hub for China Eastern Airlines, Kunming Airlines and Lucky Air.
It is a modern and green airport that was designed to be environmentally friendly and energy saving. The main terminal of Changshui Airport is the second largest terminal building in China and has 66 gates with jet bridges.
