About the Hosts
Okinawa consists of 160 islands (49 of which are inhabited) and it is the southernmost prefecture of Japan. As Okinawa’s climate is subtropical, it enjoys mild weather in winter and moderate weather in summer. Okinawa offers a unique culture, history and cuisine and it is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Japan.
Okinawa’s main attractions include splendid beaches, world-class scuba-diving and snorkelling, great nature, historic sites, various activities and theme parks, colourful city life and great shopping. For these reasons, more than 7 million people visit Okinawa annually.
Okinawa has also seen an increase in international visitors recently. There are frequent flights on 33 domestic air routes to mainland Japan and 11 international air routes, connecting Okinawa with Hong Kong, Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Seoul, Busan, Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Hangzhou and Fuzhou.
