Message from the Queensland Premier
Queensland values this opportunity to connect with Asia and its aviation leaders.
With five international airports, our state is indisputably Asia's Gateway to Australia and we are well on our way to becoming the nation's leading destination for Asian travellers.
Through Tourism and Events Queensland, my Government is working closely with our airports, regional tourism organisations and Tourism Australia to ensure we have direct flight routes and tourism infrastructure in place to exceed the holiday and business expectations of a record number of Asia visitors, predicted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to skyrocket over the next 25 years,
In the past year alone Queensland has welcomed new and additional services from Malaysia Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Air China, China Southern Airlines and Singapore Airlines.
These partnerships are the result of our Queensland Asia Tourism Strategy and two highly successful funding initiatives: Attracting Aviation Investment Fund and Connecting with Asia Fund. They are also the welcomed outcome of collaborative forums like Routes Asia 2018.
I wish you an enjoyable and productive conference filled with new connections.
Annastacia Palaszczuk
Premier of Queensland
Minister for Trade
