What to do in Perth

From exploring the city parks including Kings Park to iconic buildings such as the Optus Stadium, Perth is rich with culture and architecture ready for you to discover.

Kings Park

Overlooking the Swan River/Derbarl Yerrigan and the Perth/Boorloo city skyline, the stunning Kings Park and Botanic Garden/Kaarta Komba is one of the largest inner-city parks in the world. At 400 hectares, it’s bigger than Central Park in New York, and is home to more than 3,000 species of the State’s native flora. Tour its botanic gardens and spring wildflowers solo, or on a guided tour. Alternatively, discover the park’s rich culture and history with an Aboriginal guide.

Optus Stadium

Awarded the world’s most beautiful stadium, Perth’s Optus Stadium has views of the picturesque Swan River/Derbarl Yerrigan and Perth city in the west and the foothills in the east. This 60,000-seat, world-class, multi-purpose Stadium hosts a variety of sports and entertainment events including Australian Football League, International and Big Bash League cricket, soccer, rugby league and union, plus concerts.

Yagan Square

Linking the city’s CBD to Northbridge, Yagan Square connects people to place and is a celebration of Western Australia’s heritage. It recently underwent a multi-million-dollar redevelopment and is home to Stories – a five-storey hospitality mecca.

Museum

A hop, skip and jump from Yagan Square is the Perth Cultural Centre, home to the spectacular WA Museum Boola Bardip. Here you’ll also find the Art Gallery of WA (which houses the State Art Collection), Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA), State Library of WA, State Theatre Centre, an urban orchard and stunning public art.

elizabeth quay

Take a walk around the vibrant waterfront precinct of Elizabeth Quay/Goomup, home to luxury hotels, rooftop bars, waterfront dining, public art and some of the best views in the city.

State Buildings

Located at Perth’s Point Zero, the State Building has been the heartbeat of the city since 1875. Today, this iconic heritage precinct is home to several gourmet restaurants, bars, providores and retail stores.

matagarup bridge

If you’re looking for a thrill, scale the heights of Matagarup Bridge and admire the views of the city, before ziplining over 400 metres over the Swan River/Derbarl Yerrigan with Matagarup Zip+Climb.
