Panel Debate – State of the Industry in Asia Pacific
Despite considerable challenges in many parts of the world, Asia Pacific is expected to continue to lead global economic growth with an average forecast GDP of 3.9% annually over the next 20 years. And its aviation market is following suit.
According to IATA, in seven years’ time China will become the number one passenger market on the planet, overtaking the US; in eight years India will move to number three; and in 20 years Indonesia will be the number five in the rankings.
How has the market changed in recent years? What is the outlook for 2018 and beyond? Are the passenger forecasts achievable?

Panel Debate – Dynamic Business Models: Reshaping the Market
Different business models and airline strategies are starting to reshape the aviation industry in Asia, especially the low-cost carrier model which has gained success in increasing accessibility. Airlines are announcing new routes each day, ordering new aircraft, offering new discounts and introducing new products and services.
Can low-cost carriers continue their phenomenal growth? What is the future of competition for both FSCs and LCCs in the long-haul low-cost market? Will business travellers and corporates find LCCs more attractive in future? What innovations are further changing the market? Where are the biggest new revenue generation opportunities for LCCs? Can FSCs balance passenger expectations while keeping costs under control?
The discussion will also look at the opportunities for LCC alliances and ask if there is a real appetite for them. In addition, it will explore the biggest new revenue generation opportunities for LCCs and question whether we are heading for a period of consolidation.
